HERTS COUNTY SRA MINUTES
COMMITTEE MEETING
at 2 Manor Road, at 8.00 p.m.
on Monday 22nd November 2004
Present: Jason Foster Sally Ann Webster
Isobel Smith Dean Clayton
1) Apologies: DerekThorpe, Dominic Webster, Lesley Garner, Fiona Mclure
[Action]
2) Chairman
3) Herts Closed 2004
Although Lesley not at the meeting, the Herts Closed went well, thanks to
Lesley and Jo for their organisation again. Thanks also to the sponsors,
Integral. Dean has acknowledged their cheque but we need to write to them
again, formally thanking them. We also need to find out whether Lesley is
willing to run the tournament next year. If yes, that’s great, if No we need
to start thinking about other venues and changing the format. Only Herts
Country Club and Bishops Stortford look possible venues at the moment.
4) Treasurer [Action: Dean]]
£7,800 in bank of which £3,300 is Awards for All. Dean will contact Awards
for All to ascertain what needs to be done with remaining money.
Post Meeting Note:
Dean has spoken to Awards for All, they have been writing to Declan, without
success and have not copied Dean in on the correspondence. They will now
write to Dean and take it from there.
Herts Closed made a profit of £400. Sally Ann handed Dean the remainder of
the winter
league entry money.
Dean tabled revised guidelines for County expenses. Committee agreed them.
Dean will send them to Derek to put on the website. [Action: Sal, Dean,
Derek]
Dean will be moving very shortly and no replacement has been found as yet.
Sally Ann
will send a general e-mail to all her contacts asking for anyone with
accounting or bookkeeping skills, who would like to join the committee. We
also need to ask Derek to put something on the website.
[Action: Sal, Dean, Derek]
Referees
Alastair Ambrose, Dave Sciberas and Ray Waller were all assessed at the
British U13 & U17 British Champs. They all passed at County Grade level.
There is a rules course at Herts Country Club tonight.
Paul Allen will be presenting a rules course in Middlesex with a view to
qualify as an instructor.
Dean has spoken to Ron Worrell about the possibility of taking over as
Referee Coordinator for Herts. Ron would be willing to do this but would
like to be paid. After some discussion it was felt that all roles on the
committee are voluntary and it would set a president to pay someone to a
job. Therefore Dean will produce an up to date contact list for referees and
it will be up to the organiser of an event to contact and arrange referees.
The only instance at the moment that this would be necessary would be for
county matches and the Herts Closed. Again Sally Ann will add on her e-mail
asking for someone to volunteer to help with coordinating referees.
5) Men’s Leagues
Sally Ann has received a handful of complaints regarding the implementation
of the new rules. Some teams have switched players around, some have played
in a lower team and moved up to a higher team and others are just in
complete disarray. After some discussion it was felt that rules are rules
and they must be adhered to so that the new online system works properly. It
was decided that where players have played out of order the penalties
imposed will stand.
The League Cup draws have been done and circulated. First match has to be
played by the end of December
6) Ladies League
7) County Matches
O’35 team came third at their weekend.
Seniors came third after countback. Fielded the youngest team, ages ranging
from 14, 16, 19, 20 23 and 35.
Senior ladies came last at their weekend, only managing to field four
players.
8) AOB [Action: Sally]
Affiliation money all in except for Cannons, which is still outstanding.
