Good Luck to all teams.

Girls Squash – Training Morning on the 23/12/07 had 31 attendees – a great turn out so close to Christmas. It was held at Cannons.

Next Girls morning scheduled 9th March at Canons.

There is a Intercounty friendly provisionally booked for 10th Feb. This is the East Anglian Tournament and will be held at Bishop Stortford if it goes ahead. At the moment only a 50/50 chance as some Counties are not showing great interest.

Inter Club – All going OK

Berko have withdrawn an U13 team. Ron is still awaiting official confirmation from them. Seems Berko are struggling with some organisational issues at the moment.

Safety Glasses – 12 pairs purchased. Some were handed to team managers. These need to be available in case juniors forget or lose their glasses. Also need to have these available at the Herts Closed.

Grand Prix – U17/ U19 – Canons is booked for this event on Sunday 24th March from 9.30 – 12.30.

Need to send invites to those ranked 6 and below. Dave Richards has e-mail details of the boys and will be asked to invite them to the Grand Prix. Ray waler has sent an email asking Dave to do this and Julian will follow up with a call nearer the date. On the day Julian will also be assisting to run the event.

After this GP the next one is scheduled for the 20th April – need to get a club to volunteer to hold this event.

Awards For All

Trotts Hill completed on Dec 13th. Ron to find out how many have continued on with the club.

Camps Hill start on 18th Feb. – 5 dates only. Want to bring 28 Kids. Need 2 coaches to handle such a large number. Ron arranging.

Batchwood special needs school starting weds 16th. 6 sessions with Steve Lloyd.

Broxbourne – seems they have 30 children at the Junior training. Our funding to get things going seems to be helping.

Grant request for Video Equipment – A request was received from Gosling asking the committee to contribute towards electrical equipment for videoing and analysing the junior squash players. This amounted in total to around £1800.

The committee did not feel this was within our Awards for All programme and we recommend Gosling apply for their own Awards for All if they wish to buy equipment of this nature. It was pointed out that several local coaches have this equipment available and maybe it would be better to hire out equipment from them.
The request was therefore rejected.

A.O.B.

Herts Juniors were well represented at the British Junior Open with Adrian Waller getting the furthest by reaching the semi Finals. Jemma Ockwell reached the furthest within the Girls event. Others who attended were Olly Dixon, Philip Waller, Nick Mulvey, Brogan Lane. My apologies if I have forgotten any.

19th Jan friendly arranged for U13 at Harpenden with Middlesex.

Sat 26th Jan friendly arranged for U9 and U11 at Finchley Manor v Middlesex.

The Ron Palmer Trophy was presented to the Gosling team. It was nice that the first winners were Ron’s club and there name will appear first on the trophy.
