Dear Member,

Welcome to the latest RLTSC newsletter

Tennis dress code

a quick reminder from the General Committee:

Could all members please note that although white tops are no longer
compulsory, it is still required to wear recognized tennis clothing and
non-marking tennis shoes.

This means that jeans, football shirts, beach shorts and singlets etc. are
not appropriate. We would like to keep our standards of dress and behaviour
high, and would ask for the co-operation of all members and parents of
juniors.

Thank you.

The General Committee 17th October 2005

Floodlights on tennis courts 1 to 6:

As the nights are starting to close in, I'm sure you would all like to know
how to turn night into day as it were.
The floodlights are operated by the numbered token machines in the foyer
opposite the office door.

Tokens are £1 each and will give 15 minutes of light, so 4 per hour.

You can get the tokens from the tennis floodlight token machine, also in the
foyer, to the right as you come in the front door.
The token machine takes £1 coins ONLY, please make sure you have change if
you intend to use the floodlights.
If the lights on courts 1 - 3 are already on because one of the coaches has
used his/her over-ride key, it is up to anyone using one of those courts to
pay the coach or preferably, if the bar is open, the person on duty there.
The lights cannot be used after 10.30 in the evening. We can lose our
planning permission for their use if we flaunt this rule.

Now an invitation from our Head Tennis Coach, Gurinder 'Gee' Chhina.

Adult/junior Doubles Tennis Tournament :

We would like to run a little fun tournament for adult and junior tennis
members, regrettably not mini tennis members.

Date :          Saturday 26th November 2005.
Time :          3.30pm sign-in for 3.45pm start.

Format :        18 pairs with each pair consisting of 1 adult and 1 junior (U18)
Pairs will be drawn out of a hat/bowl/bottle or nearest bush.
                1st come 1st served basis.
                No fee.

Contact Head tennis coach, Gee Chhina, on 07793 319847 to book your place.

Is there a doctor in the house? Help needed :

Further to the item in the last newsletter asking for members to help with
things around the club, we would like to know if there are any professional
people in our midst who would be willing to share some of their knowledge
and time.

We would appreciate a call from any lawyers, architects, surveyors,
mercenaries ; in fact anyone who could help us with projects as and when
they occur. OK, perhaps not mercenaries…..although…no, never mind.
Please let Lee Dudack or myself know if you are in a position to help out.
Thank you.

Quiz Supper :

Just in case you missed this…here is a reminder…

Back by popular demand, the easiest quiz in town!
Who are the brainiest?  Tennis or Squash players???
Find out on Saturday 19 November at 7.45pm at the club quiz supper.
Tickets are £10 including supper (vegetarian option available - please let
us know when you book the tickets).
Tickets available from the office or behind the bar.
As before, 8 people maximum per team.

Squash News :

Unfortunately, squash court 4 is out of use until probably Tuesday 8th
November. There is a ventilation problem which has resulted in some warping
of the floor boards.
Someone will be here on Monday 7th to (hopefully) fix the problem.
Could all players please turn on the extractor fans when starting play, this
should help with ventilation. Many thanks.

Don't forget squash club and social nights on alternate Monday (next one on
14/11/05 starting at 6.45pm) and Sunday (next one on 6/11/05 starting at
6.30pm) nights.
£2 to play till you drop!

A great way to introduce new people to the club and to give them a chance to
have a couple of games before joining as members.

Junior squash players

Sunday afternoons from 1.45 with Julian Craxton and
Stephen Lloyd. Please drop in, they will be more than happy to see you and
help you with your game.
