Sports Psychology

Sports Psychology Support services offered by the University of Luton

Sports Psychology Support is where a Sports Psychologist works with an individual sportsperson or team to help improve or develop their mental skills in order to enhance sports performance. Areas which a sports psychologist could help a performer develop include dealing with nerves/anxiety, improving self-confidence, coping with sports injuries, improving concentration, goal setting and controlling aggression. Sports psychology is a growing field within Sport & Exercise science support with performers of all abilities from club to international level now using sports psychologists.

Sports psychology support can be provided on a one-to-one basis or to teams/groups, and can be provided either at the University of Luton or at the venue of your choice (e.g. training ground). Additionally, a Sports Psychologist can provide support to either the sports performer directly, or to coaches and other support staff, and sessions can be provided on either a one-off or long-term basis.

The exact cost will depend on the frequency, location and duration of sessions, but will be in the region of 45 per hour, plus travel expenses where applicable. If you are interested in receiving sports psychology support, or would like to discuss the service further, please feel free to contact me either by telephone or email.
